Internships are among the most valuable learning experiences students acquire while studying at the Department of Communication Studies. By working as an intern, students gain professional experiences, confidence, and a competitive edge that are fundamental to their future career success. All students majoring in Public Relations and Advertising (PRA) are required to complete the 1-credit, PRAD3106 Strategic Communication Internship & Practicum course before graduation. Students are supervised by Internship Directors who have rich industry experiences.

Throughout the years, the Department has developed partnerships with high-profile companies, such as Burson Cohn & Wolfe (BCW), Havas Group, Golin, Guru Online, Ruder Finn, and Shangri-La Group, that offer internship opportunities to our students. Our students have also interned at multinational companies such as the Walt Disney World, Johnson & Johnson, McCann Worldgroup, and several other Fortune 500 companies. Students are routinely awarded internships from the UNICEF and other global nonprofit organizations. Our students also have worked at MTR corporations and government organizations. Some of our student interns were given an inside track for a full-time employment position after graduation.

The Department supports two forms of internships: in-semester and summer internships. Students who take up an in-semester internship can work on a part-time basis during wither Fall or Spring semester, and normally they work no more than two working days per week. Students who take up a summer internship can work full-time during the summer break to earn intensive exposure to the professional world.

Students and employers who wish to learn more about our internship program can contact one of the internship directors.
