Dr Dominic Yeo recently delivered an insightful public lecture at the Hong Kong Central Library on "Youth Psychological Well-Being in the Artificial Intelligence Age." The lecture attracted a diverse audience eager to understand the intersection of artificial intelligence and youth mental health.
Dr Yeo highlighted how young individuals interact with AI technologies through platforms such as social media and chatbots. He discussed both the negative impacts, including depression and stress, and the positive effects, such as enhanced happiness and life satisfaction. Additionally, the lecture covered key risk and protective factors, including body image and self-esteem, which influence youth well-being. Dr Yeo also underscored the critical role of education and awareness in fostering a healthier digital landscape for future generations.
