At COMS Career Talk, Sandpiper Practitioners Weigh AI's Role in Public Relations

Four public relations practitioners from Sandpiper Communications spoke to COMS students on October 13th about how artificial intelligence is changing the way agencies work.

The career talk, "Working in PR in the Age of AI: Lessons Learned from the Real World," featured Mokka Mok, Sandpiper's deputy general manager for Hong Kong; Kate Kim, Hugo Lin, and Winsome Ho.

The speakers said agencies are using AI to streamline their workflows, but that strategy and crisis management still depend on human judgment and emotional intelligence. Drawing on recent campaigns, they gave examples of AI-driven analytics in practice, and they outlined the skills graduates will need to stay competitive as AI changes the job market.

The talk was followed by a question-and-answer session and a networking reception, where students asked the speakers for career advice.
