The Department of Communication Studies recently welcomed Jaslin Goh, Director of Marketing, Corporate Communications and Data at Octopus Holdings Ltd, for a timely discussion on the complexities of digital transformation in established organizations.
In her presentation, Goh explored the challenging question of why legacy organizations often face more difficult transformation journeys than startups. She prompted students to consider several critical contrasts that impact organizational change: the advantages of starting with a clean slate versus navigating infrastructure changes, open versus closed operational loops, hierarchical versus flat organizational cultures, and agile team structures versus traditional department-based approaches.
Goh emphasized that successful digital transformation requires a complex orchestration, providing COMS students with valuable insights into the complex nature of organizational change in the digital era.
With over two decades of experience across advertising, data consulting, technology, and fintech industries, Jaslin Goh is currently with Octopus Holdings Ltd.
